Fishing charter update mid July
Well all in all July has been a good month on our fishing charter and dolphin tours here on Florida’s Space Coast. Of course we have had our share of wacky summer weather coming through and either keeping us off the water or occasionally making conditions a bit more challenging, but that’s Florida.
The bite has been up and down a bit but the up days have been producing some nice fish, good fights and smiles on fisherman’s faces. Some of the species that have come up are Snook, redfish, speckled seatrout, ladyfish, tarpon, shark, large rays and gaff top. The variety of smaller stuff like mangrove snapper, sheepshead, grunts and puffers is also around to keep us busy while searching for the bigger stuff.
One of the best parts of summer fishing here in the Cocoa Beach area is the variety of guests we get to meet and fish with. Summer is the time for family vacations, so many of our guest include young anglers. The look on the faces of little ones catching their first fish, learning to cast or seeing new saltwater varieties is priceless. Also seeing families who have never really fished but leave the boat talking about buying some rods and starting to fish back home. In the day and age of electronic devices we love to here new excitement for the outdoors.
Dolphin, manatee and much more..
While we certainly love to fish we know it is not for everyone. For those folks we get to enjoy a few hours on the boat showing them the wild side of Florida. This summer has been fantastic for wildlife viewing. The Dolphins and Manatee have been abundant and the amount of new babies we have been seeing has been more than I remember from past years.
Dolphins have been giving us some great shows whether it be hunting, playing or coming right to the boat out of curiosity. The manatee of course are not as fast and agile but the gentle giants have been plentiful and curious for some great viewing and pics.
Besides are main two sea mammals that everyone comes to see we have much more. Alligators have been a fairly regular sighting as of late as well as our many variety of birds. We have been seeing large fevers (schools) cownose rays that come to visit in the summer months, and in the past 2 weeks we have had great views of large spotted eagle rays jump high out of the water. While that is not a common sighting it is awesome when it happens.
